SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
The SAP (from English: Serum Amyloid P) is a protein component of serum. The native protein is a pentamer or decamers (125 or 250 kDa). Its function is nuclear, however it is associated with all types of amyloid injuries including amyloid accumulations in Alzheimer's patients. Amyloid deposits are involved in characteristic dementia of Alzheimer's disease. Amyloid P has also been involved in all types of amyloidosis that occur naturally.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to a region close to the N-terminus of amyloid P component human.
Staining pattern: Extracellular.
Positive control: Tissue sample from tissue with amyloidosis.
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human protein amyloid P using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
This antibody is useful for detecting amyloid P accumulation in tissues such as kidney, brain and others.
