Description

SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
Annexin A1 (lipocortin-1 or calpactin II) is a protein of 38kDa molecular mass which is part of the family structurally related to calcium-dependent and phospholipid-fixing proteins. The members of this family share a common central domain and they differ in the N-terminal protein which determines the type and functional specificity. It is believed that phosphorylation of the N-terminal determines its function. Annexin A1 activity is related to signal transduction, DNA replication, cell proliferation and apoptosis. Annexin A1 is involved in the regulation of phospholipid vesicles aggregation, mediating inflammatory response and inhibition of fosfolipase A2 activity, this latter known as apoptosis mediator.

Clone: 29
Isotype: IgG1
Immunogen: Bovine annexin aa 1-346.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from hairy cell leukemia, prostate or placenta.

APPLICATIONS:
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human Annexin A1 using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
IHC detection of Annexin A1 is a simple, highly sensitive and specific method for the diagnosis of hairy cell leukemia. It has been reported that Annexin A1 is overexpressed in breast carcinomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, carcinoma of the pancreas, and pituitary adenomas. It is down-regulated in esophageal carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma and prostate carcinoma.
