SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
The antibody recognises p63, a 63 kDa protein which is highly expressed in the basal cell layer of many epithelial tissues. p63 is a transcription factor with high homology to p53. The immunohistochemical detection of p63 protein is mainly used for staining of the basal cell layer of prostate and breast glands. It helps investigating atypical proliferations. Moreover, the antibody of clone Y4A3 reacts with an unknown antigen in the cytoplasm of muscle cells.
Immunogen: Recombinant protein according to the N-terminus of human p63.
Staining pattern: Nuclear.
Positive control: Tissue sample from prostate or skin.
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human p63 using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
The antibody is used to stain the basal layer of prostate and mammary glands. It is very useful in studies of atypical proliferations.
