Description

SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 33-34 kDa, which is expressed almost exclusively in prostate tissue and cells derived thereof. In addition, very low expression of PSA could be detected i.e. in normal breast tissue, breast tumours and endometrium. PSA is also known as kallikrein 3 or hK3.
The antibody stains positive in epithelial cells of normal prostate, primary tumours and metastases of the prostate but not in tumours of other origin. An immunohistochemical study showed more than 95 % of prostatic carcinomas stained with this antibody. PSA is demonstrable in the cytoplasm of acinar and ductal cells of normal and malignant prostate tissue.

Clone: EP1588Y
Isotype: IgG
Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the C-terminus of human PSA.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from prostate or prostate carcinoma.

APPLICATIONS:
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human PSA using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
